However, it is important to understand what it takes to be a successful coach. Spoiler alert...winning is not part of the equation. Even though winning does make it easier, what's more important is the kids are safe, having fun, and want to come back and play next year. Watching a player get their first hit of the year or a player scoring their fist run is one of the highlights of coaching. Baseball is a game of failure that teaches boys and girls its OK to fail, and failure is how we learn and get better in baseball and in life.
