About Painesville Little League
Painesville Little League (PLL) is a non-profit youth baseball organization serving Concord Township, Leroy Township, Painesville, Painesville Township, Grand River, and Fairport Harbor in Ohio since 1952. The league fields approximately 36 baseball teams for roughly 400 players ages 4 to 16, spanning T-ball through the Junior Division, and also charters a Little League Challenger team for athletes with disabilities and special needs.
History
Painesville Little League was started in 1952 by Roy F. George, who served as president until 1954. The first year it was formed, Painesville Little League consisted of 4 teams. Over the years it grew to over 40 teams in three divisions: National, American, and Eastern. In 2009 the league combined into one division. The league has won multiple state championships including the 1963 State Championship, back-to-back Painesville Nationals State Championships in 1982 and 1983, and additional state titles in 1988, 1989, and 1990 in Junior and Senior divisions. In 2005 they were named Safest League in the Central Region, and in 2011 added a Challenger Division for athletes with physical and mental disabilities.
