Pike Creek Little League

It was a simple act, somewhat of a rite of fatherhood. John Tirrell signed up his son, John Jr., for the local neighborhood baseball team, the Limestone Acres Yankees. He had no expectations beyond the joy that comes from watching a boy play a season of baseball. The team manager, Paul Vible, asked John Sr., who'd been a high school baseball and college football player, if he'd assist with coaching the team. It was 1964.
