About Santa Cruz Little League
Post Season Overview After the regular season ends there are several post season tournaments. SCLL Division Playoffs & Tournament of Champions (TOCs) At the end of the regular season the AA, AAA, Majors and Intermediate 50/70 Divisions each participate in double-elimination playoffs. The Tournament of Champions happens after the regular season ends. Winners of the AAA and Majors Division playoffs represent SCLL in the District 39 Tournament of Champions, a double-elimination tournament against the winners of other local leagues in District 39. If your player’s team goes to the TOCs, then they will continue play after the regular season ends as long as their team advances. The Tournament of Champions goes through mid-June. Check the District 39 website for the latest TOCs schedule and brackets. All-Stars The All-Star Season is separate from the regular season with tournaments scheduled in late June and into early July (depending on age). SCLL All-Star teams are developed by league-age (9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 year old) and draft players who have shown top performance throughout the regular season. The All-Star Tournament provides higher level competition and Leagues are advised to field their strongest players. Throughout the regular season, coaches and managers track players’ performance and identify the strongest candidates for All-Star Tournament play. Players are selected based on ability, attitude, sportsmanship, coachability, commitment, and availability for the duration of the tournaments and practices. Check the District 39 website for the latest All-Stars tournament schedule and brackets. All-Star team Managers Selection All-Star team managers are solicited via a Manager Interest form and are then selected by a SCLL Board Committee in May. Managers are chosen based on their proven abilities to coach and manage players, their participation in mandatory training, as well as their readiness and commitment. Player Availability Playing on the All-Star team is a significant commitment with near daily practices. Prior to formal selection to an All-Star team, a player must first confirm availability and readiness. With only 12-14 players per team, it is essential that nominated players are ready and available to make the commitment to attend practices and games for the entirety of the All-Star tournament. Players with lengthy travel plans, out-of-town commitments or other time conflicts throughout June and early July are not considered available. Additionally, some families may simply not want to have their player considered for nomination. The SCLL Player Agent will reach out to player families to confirm availability of players in early May. All-Star team Players’ Vote Regular season players (aged 10-13) will participate in the player nomination process for the All-Star teams by voting for their top six picks of players (by league age) who they feel should be chosen to an All-Star team. Players will only vote for their respective age group. Each p
